We can officially say stage two of our renovation is done. Now on to the final touches which include putting the floors down, painting, final electric and plumbing installation, trim/baseboards. Oh yeah we need to build the kitchen and furnish the whole place! That's the fun part though.  See photos below of the state of the house as of last weekend. We now have drywall up and mudded as of today.

  3. When you said blown in insulation, I was picturing cellulose....What material is that they blew in? I'm sure it's not the cotton candy it looks like?

    1. It's blown in fiberglass. It's R-38.

    2. That's neat! I didn't know they could blow it into open cavities like that! Handy, and probably won't slump over time like some blown in options.

    3. it's certainly more expensive to have them do it this way rather than just the batt rolls. but we figure why not pay a little extra for super insulation while all the walls are open. might as well.

    4. Seeing your progress is awesome. It's very inspiring. I was telling Jay before that I opted for the open & closed cell blown in foam option for my building. It was 3 times the cost but it only costs between $25 and $50 a month to keep my building of 1728 square foot shop/office at 70 degrees all year round. So you will pat yourself on the back later when your climate control in the rentals is lot cheaper over time.

    5. yeah, these are tough decisions to make, pay more now and less later? that's usually our approach. pay more now for better materials that will last for our lifetime and hopefully beyond.

  5. Wow! All the decisions that have to be made with such a major remodel. You definitely have more patience with construction/renovation than I do.

    I'm thrilled to say that I had 25 nights booked for the month of March. 2017 is shaping up to be a good year. Bookings will exceed my yearly goal of 100 nights. You are fortunate that you are able to fill 200+ nights a year.

  6. We have decided to go ahead with airbnb for our vacation home. Insurance has been the biggest hurdle! I am curious if cbiz is considered a good company. I can get insurance from a local agent, but cbiz includes watercraft liability, which is huge. Airbnb does not include watercraft. Any advice from the community?
